It is a very nice stage. It was the driver stage of the Laural 300b amp. I built a few others with a transistor replacing the 6AC7. This is basically an elaborate constant current source load for the tube. Very worth while but it might be too neutral for some; there is not much of the excessive tube "warmth" (rolled off highs and lows). The transistor version is very close sounding to the pentode version and a lot easier to implement, you only need 300 volts and you do not have to worry about the heater to cathode ratings.
