Hi Jon,I wouldn't recommend the Reveille phono to a first time kit builder. The solder work required is very precision/fine and several people, in addition to Carl, have had difficulties assembling the unit. Since it is a solid state unit, it is less forgiving than tubes and one error can propagate through the circuit causing multiple problems.
In fact, I may decide here shortly to offer the kit with the phonocard pre-assembled and tested just to reduce some of the customer frustrations and my headaches. If I do this offer, then it will be something a first-timer could probably handle. Unfortunately, I will have to charge a little more for the assembly and test.
