I remember when I placed perhaps a bit too much importance on aesthetics and a components outward appearance -- I have learned it has absolutely nothing to do with performance. But! when building from scratch, neat-looking, well planned point-to-point wiring can have some advantages.

The cantilevered placement of the tweeter on the speaker in question is done that way for a very specific reason: at places the two drivers within a close enough proximity to provide a more optimum single-point-source. Having built a few systems of my own use very high quality drivers arranged in a vertical or linear array, I have been able to hear both design approaches, and prefer the Hammer Dynamics design. Some people buy components for the rather ignorantly simple reason that they have thick, nicely machined aluminum face-plates. Some knowedgeable designer could put a great amplifier or preamp circuit in an old coffe can, and have it just kick the you-know-what of some lesser product costing thousands because of the fancy ad campaign and chassis machined from a solid block of a cool-LOOKING metal alloy.
