Chris -Great Post! Your excellent post really put things in perspective; although, I had a basic idea of the cap function, your explanation put it upfront and center.
I do think I should probably substitute the .047uf cap with at least a .1uf or perhaps the .22uf, even though the speakers I am currently using only hit around 40hz if lucky (ProAc Mini Towers). I assume the .047 is really not giving my speakers enough leeway.
Basically, I am going to have to find some more efficient speakers as well, although the ProAc do get a surprising amount of volume probably due to the relatively simple crossover.
As I have never really listened to horns in a high quality system and have been listening to monitors for years, I am not sure what I am going to do. At the moment, I enjoy listening to my EICO HF-81 more as it has more soul and an amazing amount of resolution while still sounding musically whole.
