I think what happens with parallel SE outputs is one tube has a tendency to hog more of the current, even if they are matched pairs.Also, SE amps are sooo capable of digging up that extra bit of low level resolution that when you split the signal, run it through two tubes, and then combine it again, you lose some of this ability.
I've heard several parallel SE amps and they sound pretty good if done right....but not quite as good as a single output.
