I can think of two amps (both kits) which are currently available and use a pair of 300B valves in the output - the World Audio Design 300B-PSE and the Audio Note KIT-3. Both claim an output of 16-20W / channel but I havn't seen or heard either of these in action so I can't comment on the sound or parts quality, but I'd expect that the Audio Note should be reasonably good.

I did once own a GTA SE-40 which was a single ended amp with three 5881 beam tetrodes in parallel per channel. Its rated output was *cough* 40W/channel *cough*, although I think it was closer to 25W/channel in reality. Its character was rather "muggy" and smeared, but I don't know if this was just that amp or if its a general characteristic of paralled output tubes.

Paralled SE outputs for power just doesn't seem to be part of the philosophy of current amp design. I know Doc B. has a dislike of this approach. Perhaps market factors make it unprofitable to produce higer power except via push-pull designs?

Cheers
TG
