There are not many (any) conventional SE amps in current production that use multiple output tubes. I am interested in finding out why this is not an option for increased power output. If the tubes can be very carefully matched and individually biased, it would seem to be possible.Due to the difficult nature of maintaining bias balance in DHT type tubes, I can understand why they might get out of wack and sound bad. However, my current favorite is a SE amp based on the lowly KT88 / 6550. Is tube matching the reason the parallelling of SE output tubes is not used, or is there something more fundamental?
