Thanks for this helpful information. From listening to both systems side-by-side, I do notice a bit of a deeper response with the La Scalas than with the Medallions. As far as midrange goes, the former just cannot match the Lowther; and as Tony G. has mentioned to me for literally years now, the midrange is really were music tends to 'hang out' the majority of the time -- especially with the kind of stuff we usually listen to.

And budget is in fact an issue. We have mega-buck hip replacement surgery for one of our dogs on the horizon, so I really have to watch things closely.

Thus, modifying the La Scalas would be pretty straightforward -- and not cost me anything.

Thanks again -- I'll do some more research on this; finish the amplifier I'm building (another reason why I have to watch $$$); and then see what happens toward the end of the summer. I'm really interested in the Oris possibility. Plus, it would free up the Medallions for a dedicated TT based system in another room. I had them in there before (away from four wagging dog tails), and they sounded absolutely incredible. The room is a bit smaller than the other, and they loaded it very well.

Thanks again for the help.

Erik
