Thanks, Ron:I actually hadn't really been thinking about the damping effect that Thom mentioned -- which was an interesting perspective, something I didn't really ever consider with these. As someone who knows how to make vase, bowls, etc., on a potter's wheel, I considered the idea of 'thowing' some really large horns. Clay is not a good material for this, though, since it has a sort of microcrystalline structure that resonates like a bell when struck. The Oris is very inert in that respect I would think.
Anyway, I'm just thinking about some future possibilities. Another important consideration for this would be the Oris high frequency response, whether it is as good or better than the Medallion IIs, etc. The La Scalas are great, and have the speed to keep pace with Lowthers. The Lowther has a midrange quality the big Klipsch can't quite match (this just is my opinion), and so I'm thinking of ways to combine some of the best features of both into one system. I have been using the Medallion/PM2As with the La Scalas (only the woofer)for a week or two, and the match is really very good. Since I believe the La Scala bass driver is a 16 ohm driver, it would be easy to connect the Lowther 15 ohm driver in parallel (with only an inductor on the woofer) for an approximate impedance of 8 ohms. Could be really nice!
