Very, very nice! I'm sure the sound was there, as well. This was really helpful, Thom. This might be an option down the road, but I have been thinking about a couple of idea using the bass bins from the La Scalas -- they are coincidentally also black -- as are those in the link you kindly provided!I'm totally wrapped up in this scratch-built parallel feed stereo amp project, so need to finish up that first. I got the OPTs today, as well as the tube sockets. Chassis layout and measuring comes tomorrow, and punching the thing out (labor!) starts on Monday. I would have liked a bit of a nicer box than the Bud I purchased, but I'm going to make it look decent enough. I have a nice strand of neon lights I'm going to wrap it with, which should also improve the soundstage width, depth, height, altitude, azimuth, frequency response, and slam factor exponentially. In reality, it's going to be a satin finish using a technique I got from an old ham radio book -- soaking the punched chassis in a lye and water bath for a bit. The first time I did this, I let it sit way to long, and the entire chassis was reduced to a pitted sheet of aluminum foil with holes punched for 12AU7s. My mom saw all of this and thought it was really funny! :)
I think I have a pair of cables for you somewhere!!!! God! I look at those things every day, and say to myself "I'll get to those in a minute..." which turns into days and weeks and months and probably years. But it's the thought that counts!
Yours and Rons setup looked really great!
