The benefit of the DRD signal path not going through the power supply is that the signal does not have to pass through the electrolytic capacitors there. We all know what electrolytics sound like.

Granted, if you're using oils in the power supply this may be less of an issue. But power supply oils are BIG and not something I can easily offer in a kit without the costs getting out of hand so I leave this area to the DIYers.

Yes, the main drawback of the DRD design is that you have to pass the signal through one rather large capacitor, but at least in this case, oils and films are more doable. And you can get creative here and try various types of caps with and without bypassing.

As with all designs there are tradeoffs and it's these tradeoffs that fuel the DIY community. What would we do if every amp and speaker were perfect? MMMMMaybe listen to music.....naaa
