I have Lowther PM2A's which I am driving with a 2A3 amp. Great combination. I do not know if you need the extra power of the 300, but if you already have the amp run with it. They will also sound great, but you will probably have a lot of unused horsepower. My speakers are in Medallion cabinets. Would not really try anything else. If you choose to build from scratch or from a kit there are a few very important tricks to making them produce bass. Done properly bass extends to about 45 to 50 hz. Enough for me, but you have to choose. Should mention that this is good, tight bass. No overhang, no boom, just honest music.
I will not write an epic here on modifications to these speakers. Already did that for Valve some time ago, and there may be another article in the next edition of Valve that should give you plenty to go on.
If you want to build the cabinets yourself, and want my opinions on how to do it, write me an e-mail and I will get back to you.
