Oh, boy. I'd just like to reiterate unforseen, perplexing, difficulties involved in multi-amping. It's very EASY to set up a bi or tri-amped system. All it takes is money. It is EXTREMELY tough to make the system sound good, good enough to satisfy you after you've spent all that money and time. I am only bi-amping, with tubes on top and solid state on bottom(digital amp actually), and it took me literally years to find just the right combo of interconnects, speaker cables, power cords, footers, etc just to make the system sound good. For example, I've gone through a dozen power cords just for the bass amp, and even then, a combo of 2 different power cords in series was the only setup that would give me the blend and musicality that I wanted!So if you've got years to fine-tune your system to get that great sound and tons of money, patience, go for it! Otherwise, if I had a little less money and patience and starting over, I would do the following myself:
Get a really good tube amp (likely SET such as the ART JOTA or maybe even their new PX-25 SET! or one of those single-stage Wavelenth SET) and hook it up crossoverless to either Oris Horn or another horn (Avant Garde or CART)
Get multiple really good digital amp (modified Spectron or modified Evo) and bi or tri-amp a really good ribbon or electrostatic speaker such as Maggie 20R or SoundLabs through a good tube crossover such as Marchand.
