WAYE was a low-power, daylight-only station (860 AM, IIRC). Played a variety of formats over the years (my father was broadcast engineer there for a while in the 1950's). In my college years (late 1970's) they were an outstanding progressive R&R station. They changed formats, but went out for their last few days with a bang... playing lots of stuff that was NOT AM-radio friendly in those days!
