Classic gear from yesteryear; vintage audio standing the test of time.

Re: Toshiba sa 320

Toshiba was a bit slow to the higher-end of audio for most of the 70s, this having as much to do with little or no dealer channels for the gear they marketed else where in the world at the time. Back then, Toshiba was a second-tier consumer gear marketeer. When they finally did start selling gear, they competed with the Pioneers, Marantz, etc of the day. To do so, they offered far better margins on their gear and offered a rather wide range of gear, including speakers, turntables, cassette decks, etc, too.

IMHO, they were right in there with the other brands in terms of features, power and styling but never seemed to gain traction with the review communities - most possibly since they had no business relationships with anyone in the upper end of the audio media. That, and the fact that they didn't advertise with the likes of Stereo Review and Audio also didn't endear the brand or generate reviews that we can reference today.

BTW, they did market some separate devices such as power amps, preamps, and tuners, too.

Hope that helps.

Cheers,

David
