No, I have an SX-780 too, and the lights were all original. They were mounted in the glass via plastic prongs that broke off when I tried to wiggle a bulb once. My guess is that had happened during a prior servicing and the technician used epoxy to put them back in place. I just rolled up the wire slack so that bulb I tinkered with "floats" in its right place. Hope that makes sense,
