Early Phillips-era Marantz receivers like the MR-235(a re-badged Model 1550?) are under-rated values which should be considered also! Roughly 35 watts-per-channel of Esotec-emulating d.c. amplification, married to a mellow-toned f.m. section with dx-ability sadly missing from today's home theatre-centric black boxes! All that's missing is that retro-cool gyro-tuner, which is more than compensated for with two aux inputs(or tape two, as it's badged)! These hidden gems are easily under a "C" note!
