Re: Tannoy Golds etc v Quad ESL

I have many times. For many years I had a set of Quad 63's and I still have a pair of Tannoy Lancasters with 12' Gold's which I have owned for more than 30 years.

The 63's are terrific but mine were not very reliable and I had many of the problems with them that are well known, limited base, limited volume, kind of tuff on amps etc. Still when they were right, they were wonderful. I have been temped to try the new 988 or 989 or whatever the latest model number is but frankly I have two much stuff already. I have a feeling that the newer ones have a bit more build quality, they couldn't have much less!

As for the Tannoy's well they are my favorite speakers period. I love them. They do everything right. I will never part with them.
