Classic gear from yesteryear; vintage audio standing the test of time.

A sniping service is...

... a service that allows you place your max bid well prior to auction end (days before) but not to ebay. A few seconds before auction end, the service places the bid for you to ebay and lets ebay's proxy bid system do it's thing. Since the services I'm familiar with have multiple servers with really fast connections, they almost always get in.

Two of many advantages are that you don't have to be around your computer at auction end and you don't have to worry about slow connections or being unexpectedly disconnected.

Two disadvantages are that you must give the service your ebay "handle" and PW and they usually charge a small fee when you win. There are others.

Use your favorite search engine and look for esnipe.com as a start. There are other services out there.
