I have one that i bought used six years ago. It works and is in great shape for 30 years old. (looks like a 5 year old piece)If I get it restored is it reasonable to assume many years of service is possible. I think that anything built this good should be able to be like new again with the right TLC, and it has made it this far.
It must be built great because it only had a couple of parts replaced where I bought it and other than that it hasn't quit after 30 years. Some other gear more than 15 YO was too far gone for reasonable repair. How are the caps still working after so long? I guess there are parts that do not go bad like mass market throw aways that I am used to. It's like military/scientific grade stuff of something.
I wouldn't bother, but it sounds and looks incredible. If I thought I could get something as good for the cost of fixing it I might. I would have to spend big cash (for my budget nowadays) to get this quality today. So I am leaning to getting it done.
Comments, experiences, anyone?
Thanks, Thomas Fowler
