Classic gear from yesteryear; vintage audio standing the test of time.

Allied was SOLD to Radio Shack...

..in 1971 the deal was struck. Allied was primarily still a catalog operation and Radio Shack was rapidly building retail stores. In the 1972 catalog there are receivers under both the Allied and Realistic labels--later some were Allied Radio Shack.
Lafayette Electronics eventually became Circuit City.
In the 70s, OLson electronics was owned by the conglomerate Teledyne, which also owned Aoustic Research at the same time. They sold Teledyne receivers and speakers in the Olson catalog from the 70s I have. In the 60s, OLson didnt really have a catalog, but had a newspaper-like flyer they sent out every few months--often featuring what looked to be close-out electronic stuff. There was an Olson Electronics retail store here in Lexington KY too, which closed about 1980 or a little earlier.

Interestingly there once again is ad www.alliedelectronics.com, complete with the traditional familiar Allied A with ball logo. They sell electronic parts but no audio equipment
