When an amp goes into protection,that usually a indicates a shorted output transistor or two and protection interrupts the B+ rail from feeding the shorted components,causing further damage.It could also be a shorted driver transistor and even a shorted cap can cause that.It obviously has isolated power supply rails and that's why you have one working channel.
