I recently got a hold of a floor standing Zenith radio, but I can't find a model number or name.
The front is in excellent shape, except for the footers, they are there but not attached. One has a piece missing, easily duplicated by a woodworker. The top has some crazing and the sides are not good, one has a big stain.
The face and switches are in great shape. As is the grill.
It has a round dial that shows AM and shortwave bands,on the right side of dial there are, I believe presets as there are local call letters. On the left side are what I think are band selector buttons. Then there is a knob below the dial.in back there's is an antenna that was enclosed in a cardboard box. The box is partially ripped and I can see what look like 3 or 4 thin rectangle sheets about 8x12 inches, the whole box moves for adjustment. It has a speaker that is a light yellow in color and approximately 12". Above all that, behind the dial is a tube amp with I think 8 tubes. The power cord is dried out, full of cracks.
It probably hasn't been powered up in over 20 years.
I tried to take some pics with my flip phone but they are pretty bad. I put it in the garage, off the floor and covered.
I don't have the skills to go beyond replacing the cord and testing the tubes. I am wondering with the dial, the glass bubble, and everything else looking original, if it worth much? Or would it be worth more parting it out?
When it gets warmer out, I will then take some better pics. Where would I find the model number/name?
Any help or info will be appreciated.
Thank you,
Jeff
