RE: McIntosh receiver power supply caps

Upping the capacity of the new caps is OK but don't get carried away. Larger value caps should fit with no problems as new caps will be smaller than the originals due to advanced technology.
I replaced the P.S. cap in a 70's Phase Linear amp and the originals were 13,000uf and measured 3"dia. x 6" long. The replacements were 15,000uf. and measured 3"dia. x 4" long.
The most important thing is that the voltage rating MUST be equal to or greater than the originals.
Brand name is probably irrelevant but I tend to stick with Nichicon or Panasonic.
Go to Digikey, Allied or Mouser to find replacements.
