At that price, you could flip for parts. Or restore. I would restore.

Later versions used foam woofer surrounds. Changeover occurred at about the time the small black dome tweeter was introduced.

Supposedly the AR5 used a slightly different woofer, at least initially. Later replacement units were the generic AR 10inch woofer.

Personally, I found the bass of the 5 to sound better in room than the 3a. 3a bass can be overwhelming, 5 bass seems better integrated into the overall sonics of the speaker.
