At 97 dB. sensitive, the Valencias are more than sensitive enough. AAMOF, the Valencias allow switching to triode wired finals, which allow the smallish O/P "iron" to be well linearized by the NFB loop. Bass extension worries leave town. :>D Yes, the PSU should be thoroughly upgraded.
The quality of the OP's speakers make (IMO) doing the "restomod" a very reasonable proposition.
