Vintage woofer use

I have had a pair of Cerwin Vega 217r speakers for years. They have big, very sturdy cabinets and the 15 inch woofers sound great. However the D10 tweeters are kind of harsh and grainy, and the horn midranges crapped out a year ago. So I decided to put my JBL mini studio monitors on top of them and enjoy their wonderful sound. However the JBL's only go down to 70 Hz and I enjoy a little bit more bass than that. I hooked them both up simultaneously and turned off the Cerwin Vega tweeters. The JBL mid and high range frequency sounds seem to compete quite well with the efficient woofers. I've turned the bass down just a bit and have the tweeters set at +1. I was going to get a powered subwoofer, but don't feel the need to anymore.
