That's a test

at which switching amps fail miserably due to the presence of ultrasonic noise. I don't directly hear the half volt at 460 kHz, but I suspect there are audible consequences of generating near AM radio signals. Which likely may be why I find their high frequency response lacking.

John Atkinson usually filters the output to remove what Dan D'Agostino refers to as "the fuzz" on the square wave plots. :)
