All cable manufacturers enjoy a big markup.

Jackets, strain relief, heat shrink, terminations (spades, bananas), labor to assemble, shipping, and advetising.

And; Presumably he's in business to make a profit from the fruits of his labor. At least he's honest enough to tell us exactly what his reference cables are made from - I can't remember George Cardas, Bill Low, or the boys from Nordost ever doing that.
