I looked at your system and saw that you do not have a turntable, so that takes out one great reason. I see you are a classical listener like me, so I will give you my reason and you can see if it rings true to you. I find that it is rare for the best recordings and the best performances to overlap. For the greatest enjoyment for most of my records, I find tone controls to be essential. This is also one of the reasons that I prefer vintage equipment. In the 80's, tone controls started to disappear.
