RE: Sansui spring loaded speaker terminals

Walkstoslow, you'll be better served replacing your AU-317's thin, stock speaker wiring with 16 gauge. Did that to a 'sui 5000x receiver, along with direct-wiring pre-amp feed to amp boards. Still utilize spring-loaded speaker connection, with no aural aversion. BTW, those Utahs are great drivers. Have been using 12" Utah Cadences for nearly four decades. They were wired in Hafler front-channel-n-rear channel configuration for nearly three decades. Only use Cadences for rear-channel nowadaze in main system, where they sound lush-n-warm via 5000x amplification. Those other 12" Cadences replaced a pair of 12" Eminences, pulled from Fender FM-212 amp, in garage system with LXI amplification (direct-wired to IC-amp-chip outputs). System sounds much clearer through Cadences, with tighter bass response for good measure. 73s para Sactown
