RE: Lucked into a pair of Fried Model R speakers.

Olddude55, could only find info on Fried Product's R/4 speaker, which was listed in Class D of Stereophile magazine's October '92 issue's Recommended Components. Reviewer Thomas J. Norton described them as "lean, crisp, & articulate". Less refined sound overall than Epos' ES11 (which was also Class D rated) but, in T.N.J.'s decision, had considerably more dynamic range and L.F. capability. Upper mid-range was considered a bit bright with occasionally noticeable 'cupped-hands' colouration, but treble was 'silky' & naturally balanced. Good value for $1195 a pair (whereas Epos ES11 was $850 a pair & needed stands). ... In Audio magazine's October '90 33rd-annual Equipment Guide, R/4 was noted to be of Line Transmission Design Principle, with 10" woof, 5" mid, & 1" dome tweet; 38 Hz-18kHz Anechoic Frequency Response within 3dB; 90dB Sound Pressure Level @ 1 watt/1 meter; 25 watts Recommended Minimum Power; Crossover Frequencies were 250 Hz & 3kHz; 8 Ohm Nominal Impedance, 5 Ohm Minimum Impedance; 35 Pound Walnut Cabinet with 32"x12"x13" Dimensions. Manufacturer's address was Fried Products, 7616 City Line Avenue, Philadelphia, 19151. 73s para Sactown
