Hi Mike,

With all the flaws, there is something about the 60's JBL sound that is still very musical. I ran Lancer 77's (1964 to 1971) for years and enjoyed then immensely until I replaced them with the Spendor BC-1's. My brother-in-law is still enjoying them. I agree with you that you should make sure everything is working properly before you change anything.
