Sansui made a Model 3000, a G-3000 and a G-33000. Model 3000 was a early receiver with a bout 50 wpc, and the G-3000 was a late 70's receiver with a whopping 26 wpc, so I assume you mean the monster G-33000, which boasted 300 wpc. Having been an equipment shopper in the late 70's I can tell you that, at least in my area, nobody paid list price for anything. The Japanese had dumped huge quantities of audio equipment on the U.S. market and stores were cranking it off of the shelves with deep discounts. At the time, I felt that you were a fool if you paid more than half list-price. I doubt that many people paid $1900 for one of these. However, even at a discount, Sansui separates would have been a better deal, and they looked much cooler with the gorgeous black faceplates.
