RE: New Jack Backing

What you want is FR4 fiberglass/epoxy substrate, with copper foil attached. IOW, an unetched PCB. You drill out the hole pattern, tin the copper, and mount the jacks. The copper foil replaces the shielding formerly provided by sheet metal that has been removed.

Don't forget toothed lock washers under both the machine screw heads and nuts that hold the new ground plane to the chassis. Make darned sure that continuity exists between the copper foil and the original sheet metal.

Oh yeah, the foil goes on the inside of the enclosure.
