RE: Need help connecting turntable to amplified speakers via "tubes"

Welcome to Vintage-
A few things first-
Records are recorded with an equalization to accommodate the medium and still have good frequency response and dynamics. As a result, the eq needs to be 'reversed' as the signal heads to the amplifier and speakers-

there are lots of old pre-amps that can do what you are looking for:
be careful in not going too old- because then the units will be mono (as opposed to Stereo)
MFGs to look for-Based on your wanting tubes-
For Heathkit - most of the tube equipment is Mono - but there were some stereo
Bogen is a Mfg where lots of their products were to be put into a case/console
McIntosh - lots of models - including some tuner/preamps but they will be at the top of your budget range.
Fisher
Quad
Leak
Eico
Dynaco
STROMBERG-CARLSON

there are others- Look at the AA trader
there are also many ss units that are good-

Happy Listening
