good advice, I think I found it. A fray from the ground touching the other ground inside the terminal housing.. looks like the housing compressed the connections when I snapped it back together after soldering the terminal leads. I have some liquid tape drying on the wires now to prevent them from contact.. We'll see if this will work..

Never fails, no matter how much I swear up and down I got everything checked out perfect... and I get bit by some little thing I over looked.
