An option

I run two TTs, one with an SME3009 and the other with an SME III. Both arms had some mild residual hum, especially when the volume was raised. Try as I might, with all the conventional solutions proffered on sites like this,I could not get rid of it. Along the way, for other reasons, I replaced the stock SME connectors with ones from analogtubeaudio.de. All it took was to solder five wires, including the black earth wire that also got terminated on the one of the earth points of the RCA socket ( as directed in the instruction sheet). The upshot of this was that it made the use of the standard earth wire (that terminates on the 'ground' post of your pre-amp or amp) unnecessary. To my astonishment, I found that the hum had vanished completely, and it has never returned since.

You could give this option a try.
