JP(E)G is inherently lossy.

It's also the most common format for images with lots of colors, and native PDF to JPG can be messy like that. Try to scan to something like PNG or TIFF, or use the highest resolution available both when creating the PDF and when converting to JPG, you can always re-save & re-name it at a lower res for posting.

Better details, and you'll also have high quality "originals."
