RE: Tube sound - how much is due to the caps?

My father started building his own tube amps and preamps in the early 1950's when he was in college. He thinks all of this talk about "tube sound" is hilarious.

If you have a "tube sound" that is distinct from a "solid-state sound", he says, you have an improperly designed tube-based circuit.
