Classic gear from yesteryear; vintage audio standing the test of time.

Happy 50th Birthday, McIntosh 240 - with Photos

After 50 years, the McIntosh still sounds magnificent, driving a pair of Maggies, with a Rogue Perseus front end. My wife just recovered the Maggies (Hanukkah present) and today is the 50th anniversary of the amplifier's original purchase (see photo).

We use our system almost daily, and I think we use it well. Our exploration and enjoyment of music is made all the more pleasant by a system that combines vintage equipment with contemporary technology. As to how this amplifier (and the system it serves) has enriched our lives, see the "My Birthday" post at link.

$288 was a lot of money in 1965 (no, I am not the original owner); some wouldn't spend that now on a piece of audio gear, but think of the duration and return on that original investment.
