Dual feed speaker

This is probably the best place to post this question. I have a boat with external speakers and some in the cabin attached to a stereo head unit. I also have a marine band radio down in the cabin. Even if I turn the volume on the marine band to max I often can't hear it even with the stereo off. I want to use one of the external speakers to also get a feed from the marine band. This is a safety issue at times. Can I wire it up like an ordinary speaker? What if the stereo is also on when a call comes in? Will this cause a problem?
