Estate sale: Heathkit AS-38 speakers

I hope these are vintage enough, 1969-73 from what I can tell. These are similar to the JBL L88 speakers, 2 way ported design with nice walnut enclosures. I have always liked 2 way designs, but generally preferred the "East Coast" sound to the "West Coast" sound.

They are quite heavy. The original owner had added some nice metal casters to the bottom of the speakers(which I have removed).

Any thoughts about vertical of horizontal placement? I have these at work in my office, powered by a (solid state) Marantz Esotec PM-4 integrated amplifier. I found an JBL L88 manual online, sensitivity is listed at 76 dB/1 watt. They sound more efficient than that.
