Home Vintage Asylum

Classic gear from yesteryear; vintage audio standing the test of time.

I will second the Altec suggestion...

I am an owner of Model 19's and they will move some air in that size room.

I also had Altec 604's (in 620 cabs) too, and I enjoyed them in my listening space too (open floorplan, about as large as yours).

You might be lucky, I found my 19's( original, one owner) for only $400, I have no idea what a one owner, used set of 19's go on the market for. I know I was very lucky with finding them at that price and the prior 604's.

I am actually saving for another set of GPA 604's ( had to sell my old 604's), even though I really enjoy my 19's. There's something about that large, single driver sound that I really enjoy.

Both speakers go low enough for the type of music you stated you listened too...

I would try and avoid the monitor/sub system. As others above stated, it can be a hassle to try and integrate the room, speakers, and sub to sound coherent and blend in seemless with the main speakers. But as always, YMMV......

Have fun!
