I found a HUGH improvement replacing the crappy volume control in the pas to a Noble. Or if you have the funds - a Goldpoint attenuator - NICE!!!!

Also consider replacing the Selenium rectifier with diodes. But do NOT get rid of the rectifier tube.

I think I upped the 1000uf cap value to 4500uf, or some increased number??? but that was a long time ago and I really can't remember that clearly.

But again, the biggest improvement was the volume control. After you replace it you realize - Wow, that original was awful!
