Hi Mike, how was your summer?
I have a two part question about the Sherwood S-5000.
If I use any tube other than the RCA black plates in the V5 position I get both a hum and a buzz.
I purchased a Gold Lion LPS (something like that from Jim) to remove the possible hum from the filament. It did remove the hum, but there is still a buzz. Like a low level motor boating buzz. But very noticeable.
Any ideas what the heck that is?
And what should I be looking for in other tubes to replace it with when that time comes. Because I ALWAYS like to have a set of replacement tubes!!!!!!!! I'm paranoid that way.
Also is the V4 and V5 positions simply a phase splitter and the main sonic tube the V3?
charles
