I'd look for a service manual- that should have the FM alignment protocol- which would help to identify critical parts in the unit- (I checked HiFi ENgine- Nada ;-(....)
If there are some bad transistors- check the Rs&Cs connected to them- both may have drifted- or failed causing the Transistor failure-
also the caps generically might/probably need attention-
I can't speak to the merits of Carbon comp vs Carbon film vs Metal Oxide...
