Oh I know the spot well, been a few times. I just won't spend two days outside AND do the long drive in the rain. If it's raining I'll wait till next year. I don't ever register early. I have a friend that just does Friday then gives me his spot and Reningers always seems to find me something when I just show up Friday from a no show or cancel anyway.

EDIT: I always want a perimeter spot as the metal roofs kill AM/HF/SW bands. I always rig an antenna
