"The 'X7 triode makes a VERY poor "concertina" phase splitter"

I think it makes a pretty poor phase splitter/driver into PP power tubes in any case. It's a not very good driver to boot. Even into 6BQ5s and any other easy to drive power tube.

I know that many prefer an interstage transformer as splitter (for good reason) or a concertina, to twin triodes in LTP with a shared R as source. I am happy with 6CG7s in LTP with a ET CCS driving PP EL84Ms.

IIRC correctly your circuits often contain a concertina.

I wonder if any of these PP 7581 vintage items have sufficient PT current reserves to run grunty low-mu twin triodes in LTP and with a FET? Enough height for an ECC99 or 6CG7?
