Breaking in at the 7199 is the correct spot. Unfortunately, just doing that asks the VERY wimpy 12AX7 triode to drive potentially low impedance loads from its plate. :>(( That's not a good idea. The solution is simple enough. :>) "Borrow" the ZVN0545A buffer from the tweaked RCA phono preamp. The MOSFET buffer can drive the fugly IHF "standard" 10 Kohm load.
Mere mix and match is not the only thing the preamp out/amp in feature is good for. Drive an electronic cross over from the preamp out jacks and you can multi-amp inefficient speakers with high SS power on the woofers and the tube amp driving everything else.
The critter can be skinned by more than 1 approach. ;>)
